Photo Story Friday - Before and After

I wasn't sure if I would be able to pull it off. Bare white walls, a giant futon that takes up way too much space, and don't even get me started on the huge eye sore of a TV (with video game cords spewing out everywhere) in the corner. It felt like I was doing a jigsaw puzzle trying to figure out how to turn THIS into a school room for the kids...

But AMAZINGLY enough - adding a little of this and that ( I found these corkboard squares at Staples perfect for hanging artwork & such), asking Pat to put up a curtain rod and reign in the electronics, and working until 1 in the morning - the room finally came together!!!

The kids were SO excited on Monday morning when they saw the room all done up for the first time. They both kept saying " This is so awesome!!!" " I love it!" over and over. You would have thought it was Christmas morning.

I still have hopes of getting rid of that futon and adding a white board somewhere eventually.

It's a work in progress as this whole process/experiment is - learning more about homeschooling, getting into a routine, figuring out what techniques work best with the kids (especially Noah - crazy nut), but I think they will learn a lot this year. And so will I.

I don't know how I missed that you were homeschooling! I am starting this year and would love to keep in touch as far as what you are doing etc. I wish I had a nice room to decorate like that! I will have to do something! :) Good job mom!

So much power to you! It takes a very patient mother to homeschool little ones :)

well done getting your classroom ready. I am going to miss homeschooling SO much (my kids are going back to school this hear because there were NO kids their ages in our local HSA.) I'm so sad.

Hope you will love it as much as I did!

I think that everyone I know who owned a futon (including myself) was always trying to get rid of it. You are going to have a great year, I know it.

Remember that even teachers of public school have to stay on their toes to keep their kids interested. I learned that nothing that works for us in October will work in April. Baby steps and an open mind, my dear!

You can do it! Have fun!

The room looks great. I started my preschool yesterday and it went great. I am going to love it. I tried to talk Logan into staying home with me this year and he would have no part in it. He says he promises he will come home and he gets to be in my morning class. He thinks that is enough.

Love your room! I would LOVE, LOVE, LOVE to have space for a futon in our room. What a great place to snuggle up and read. Following from Melissa's Hop :)
