But AMAZINGLY enough - adding a little of this and that ( I found these corkboard squares at Staples perfect for hanging artwork & such), asking Pat to put up a curtain rod and reign in the electronics, and working until 1 in the morning - the room finally came together!!!
The kids were SO excited on Monday morning when they saw the room all done up for the first time. They both kept saying " This is so awesome!!!" " I love it!" over and over. You would have thought it was Christmas morning.
I still have hopes of getting rid of that futon and adding a white board somewhere eventually.
It's a work in progress as this whole process/experiment is - learning more about homeschooling, getting into a routine, figuring out what techniques work best with the kids (especially Noah - crazy nut), but I think they will learn a lot this year. And so will I.

I don't know how I missed that you were homeschooling! I am starting this year and would love to keep in touch as far as what you are doing etc. I wish I had a nice room to decorate like that! I will have to do something! :) Good job mom!
So much power to you! It takes a very patient mother to homeschool little ones :)
Nice job on the room, great smiles shared.
You did such a great job on the room! No wonder they were excited!
I think you did a great job!!!! Congrats on starting your homeschooling adventure.
Looks like they're ready to get to work. Good luck with homeschooling.
well done getting your classroom ready. I am going to miss homeschooling SO much (my kids are going back to school this hear because there were NO kids their ages in our local HSA.) I'm so sad.
Hope you will love it as much as I did!
good luck homeschooling. The room looks great!
I think that everyone I know who owned a futon (including myself) was always trying to get rid of it. You are going to have a great year, I know it.
Looks great! Way to use that space so well! I am glad to hear that everything is going so well with homeschooling. Give me a call when you can - I don't want to interrupt school time!
It looks great! You did a fabulous job! :)
You go girl! What an adventure you will have together. your room make-over is looking good!
Wow!! It looks great. I bet your kids are super excited to have mom as their teacher. You'll do such a great job.
Not only do you homeschool, but you do house makeovers too? You are amazing!!
Wow! Awesome! Congrats on the homeschool adventure. In another life, I might like to do that as well. ;)
Congrats on getting the room all fixed up! I love that your kids are so excited about it! I hope it continues!!
Remember that even teachers of public school have to stay on their toes to keep their kids interested. I learned that nothing that works for us in October will work in April. Baby steps and an open mind, my dear!
You can do it! Have fun!
The room looks great. I started my preschool yesterday and it went great. I am going to love it. I tried to talk Logan into staying home with me this year and he would have no part in it. He says he promises he will come home and he gets to be in my morning class. He thinks that is enough.
looks great! hope it's going well so far!
Love your room! I would LOVE, LOVE, LOVE to have space for a futon in our room. What a great place to snuggle up and read. Following from Melissa's Hop :)
Thanks so much Kelli for stopping over to my blog and joining the Show off Your Homeschool! I love the fact that you did it all and when the kids woke up they were surprised!
Great room! Love the happy faces too! Priceless. Thanks for sharing!
That's a great makeover. Looks like you worked hard. Love the cork squares.
