"Keep your mouth closed. Plug your nose," I reminded Abby. I told the teacher that it was Abby's first time, but you wouldn't have known it. She walked right on out there and took the plunge! She was so proud of herself and thought it was the coolest thing ever.
Noah, on the other hand, would have nothing to do with it. "NO WAY!!!" he said (which was fine with me. He's still getting the hang of holding his breath.)
I wish I would have had my camera that first day - darn it. But I took this video the second day. Abby was fearless! Noah? Not so much....
Yesterday (the third class), Abby was FIRST in line -
GO ABBY!!!
Noah was still pretty hesitant, but I thought I'd try to at least get him to stand on the diving board. It took a little coaxing from the instructors, but he finally climbed up there! So cute.
I'm really not ready for him to jump off yet. It's crazy how young they have the kiddos do this. I found out that they even have them jump off in the level one class.
So, yeah...we'll be working on holding our breath longer and remembering to keep our mouth closed under the water at the pool this weekend, and maybe, he (and I) will be ready to take the plunge next week.

I had one who was terrified of the water. To tell the truth, he's not scared anymore, but he still doesn't like it. (Michael Jordan doesn't either!) :)
Abby and Noah are SO cute. Look at them out there. It does make them seem all grown up when they start to dive, doesn't it? All grown up. Adorable as can be!
The girls are always the brave ones -- in my family anyway :)
I loved that video -- my favorite part was Noah, not so subtly, pulling you away from the pool :)
I remember swimming lessons, and hating jumping into the deep end.
I loved that video! What an incredibly brave little girl you have! I don't blame Noah one bit, though. As a mom, I'd probably be hiding my child till the jumping was over! Lol!
Way to go! We are taking things very slow around here.... this year the twins are happy to go to the pool they like to play in the water and even don't mind getting all wet! Big improvement over last year! I've gotten them to jump to me (in the shallow end). Good luck to both of you! :)
swimming lessons are such a rite of passage in childhood, aren't they? they look like they're doing really well!
My son is a fish and he can't wait for swimming lessons to start up again.
That's so impressive! My second is a water baby, and the oldest is perfectly fine sitting on the steps.
I love how Abby goes to hold her nose and lets go the second her feet leave the board! So cute!
