She also included a couple of things for me...

Since having kids, my organizational (and housekeeping) skills are not what they used to be.*

I actually love this kind of stuff...or at least the idea of it. My mom gives me a calendar like this every year, and I swear I would give my right arm for my house to look even close to the pictures in that magazine.
I was an elementary school teacher for heaven's sakes. Everything had its place.
That's not so much the case anymore...

Oh, to have alphabetized spices and be able to find something without rummaging through antacids, cookie cutters, playdough, and fish food.
These pictures are mild in comparison to the state of my house right now. But I tell ya, I'll pick up everything off the floor, put all the laundry away, do the dishes, etc...and by this time tomorrow, it will all reappear, like I never even lifted a finger.

That is so funny! If I wasn't living with my mom, she would have done the same thing. She is the organized queen! I feel for you!
Your mom is awesome! And thank you for taking pictures of your house as is. It made me feel a bit more normal. I swear when I get finished cleaning a room my kids immediately run into it and start "playing" why can't they go play in all the other messy rooms in the house?!
Thanks for the laugh!!!
Oh, so true! We grow mess here too!
Thank you for stopping at my blog and your good wishes. Moving slowly, but MOVING. hehe As far as your Mom she's been there, done that, but what may work for someone may not work for the other. We never think our mothers know much until we become mothers ourselves & all of a sudden she gets pretty smart. ~hehe~ Wish my Mom was still here to give me advice. Have a good day!
What a wonderful Mom!
I hope I remember to still send my kids care packages when they are grown.
Sweet. Sweet.
Um, about the alphabetized spices...I can help.
I even got a label maker for Christmas.
I will be right over!
That is hilarious. That saying, "Cleaning house while your kids are still growing, is like shoveling snow while it is still snowing" used to be right above my kitchen window. It is the truth. I try to do a really good job of keeping it contained in their bedrooms. Good luck this week with keeping your house clean. I will think about you often while I am cleaning my own.
I threw those alphabetized spices in there just for you, Wendi! I remembered!!! haha! :)
And thanks, ladies. My mom is pretty awesome. :)
I am so with you. Housework just never seems to be done so sometimes I think, why bother. :)
Thanks for visiting the Lilypad! Your twins are adorable, and I totally agree with you about the housekeeping...it is an endless job, and just when I think I'm done there is a new mess waiting!
Sorry, your kids (not twins!) are adorable!
Your mom sounds so sweet!
I subscribe to B&G. I'm not sure why bc all it does is depress me?! :)
Organization is most useful when it makes your life easier. Rinsing dishes before they get caked-on gunk? Easier. Alphabetizing your spices? Takes more time than it saves.
Looks pretty good to me! haha
And you are right....so nice to get something other than bills or junk mail!!
Love that quote!
