A couple weeks ago I came across this clever, although potentially embarrassing, blog carnival created by Kristen @ We Are That Family. (Yes, that's Kristen with the fro.) I've been going back and forth on this one...but if she can do it, so can I!
Okay...deep breath, Kelli

Here it is! Straight out the school "picture day" vault...
It's amazing what sleeping in sponge rollers can do.
Even more amazing than that, I actually SLEPT in those things...on several occasions.
Talk about uncomfortable!
Oh, the price we pay for beauty.

You look just adorable!
I have that exact same memory book! I was just looking at mine last night too.
Thanks for sharing!!
aww..you were cute! and I can't help but notice your height/weight statistics LOL
Unfortunately for me I am only 3/4 of an inch taller than you were in 5th grade LOL
Welcome to the Thursday carnival
;-)
I did too!
Very cute little girl!
I love it! Oh, honey i remember those sponge rollers but in MY day (I am ancient) we also had hard plastic rollers and I slept with THOSE ON!!! and we also used old orange juice cans, cleaned out and both ends removed! LOL. Yep, what we did for "beauty!"
You had some rollers too! OMG I completely forgot about those. Painful then yes, hysterical now, yes!
Awww...look how cute you are! And I sooo remember those rollers!
The saddest thing - I remember the day we had to take these pics! ha ha ha
Oh the memories of Pikeview and Mrs. Jackson's class!
Congratulations on your first Fro, you did it right, you took the big leap! WOOHOO! Glad you joined us .
Oh, the old school picture vault! I love it!
And can I just say the package of pink sponge rollers brought back a lot of memories? Painful. Memories.
Thanks for joining in!
I think your hair looks cute. And I remember the sponge rollers too! Not a good nights rest on them, huh?!
uhm if we ever meet in real life can i bring my pink curlers to our slumber party?
you were too cute friend. and i am pretty sure if i could dig up a picture of me, we'd be twins!!
From one fro-roller wearer to another. I FEEL YA!
I never had sponge rollers. Just those prickly pink & blue plastic curlers. Ouch! :)
Confessions of an Apron Queen
I had forgotten all about those things! We grew up in some bad hair times.
I remember sleeping on sponge rollers, too, but the worst were the brush rollers that you had to put a pick in to keep them on your head. Awful! Usually my mom just cut my hair in a pixie and left it at that.
I think you looked pretty good in that picture. Obviously the rollers didn't come out in the middle of the night like they always did for me!
You were adorable!!
I still pull my daughter's long thick hair into a pony tail and put pink spongy curlers in it. That is the only way to get her hair to have any body.
be blessed.
Jen
i definitely remember those! why did we put ourselves through that?!
happy pow!
What a cutie! I just started this carnival a couple of weeks ago myself.
I remember those sponge rollers. My back was always perfection. My sides? Um, not so much. Hee!
You can find mine here.
I totally used to wear those! and i don't know how i slept with them either... they were really uncomfortable!
Love it! I never had the fro so much as the puffy bangs! I do remember those curlers but I think after the first time I wore them I was done. I was such a tomboy and had my hair short so much but I do remember Janet in them often! I'll have to dig up some of the puffy bang pictures. I know that I have many of those with both of us!
You were soooo cute. I'm glad you joined and I love your blog intro! Love it!!
Ooh! I wore those too. I slept in them the night before one of my school pictures. That's too funny.
Thanks for visiting my blog today. You are doing really well after a few months!
Oooh, I still have the sponge rollers and put them in my girl's hair ;).
Love your photo and I am pretty sure I have that same book.
I know I used those same rollers.
What were we thinking?
Do they even make those anymore?
Ugh!!!
You need to ask your father about his "fro". Now you're on to something special!
So funny, I used to sleep in the very same curlers. Unfortunatley my hair actually looked way, way worse. And I'm pretty sure they do still make those.
I don't know if I ever thanked you for putting the purple ribbon on your site. I have been so behind on everything I feel like I'm just completely Dazed and Confused.
