Every have one of those
So when Noah and I picked Abby up from school the other day, I decided to take a detour. First to Sonic for a Cherry Coke ( I really needed one!) and a couple $1 oreo sundaes for the kids. Then on the way home instead of just waving at the cows in the pasture that we pass every day on our drive, I decided to pull over into the grass, unbuckle the kids, and roll down the windows so that the kiddos (and the cows) could have a better look.
There were probably five or six baby calves out there grazing together, and they were looking right at us. The kids really got a kick out of it. Noah insisted on taking a picture with my phone:
Of course, then Abby (and her thumb) wanted to take one too:
Then I figured I might as well get in on the act:
I'm sure those cows were wondering what in the world we were doing. The brown one on the right was totally staring us down. :)
It was pretty funny and definitely helped put me in a better mooooooo-d.
(hahaha! Sorry, I couldn't resist.)

i love lives little detours :)
sounds like you enjoyed a perfect one!
What a fun little detour! I love the cow that's giving you the evil eye. Scary. And you are just so punny! You crack me up.
I think we will try this little detour tomorrow. But technically I have a big detour (sign) out in front of my house tonight, does that count?
Yes, Heidi. I think that should definitely count. haha!
I like to stop and slow down sometimes, too, so my son can see the cows or horses...or llamas (seriously). And oh that cherry coke sounds nice. Sorry about your blah week. Except for the sick child, you described the condition of my house right now.
A great reminder to slow down and smell the roses, er, the cows. I will plan a detour asap! Thx for the inspiration!
OOOh I cant wait to have kids, so I have an excuse for doing random silly/stupid/weird things, especially like pulling over to stare at cows (although if they were buffalo, I would be doing more than taking pics, I would probably go frollicking with them!)
BTW, found you on SITS! Happy Saturday!
Thanks for a great FT post!! One of these days I'm going to join your FT Thursday :) You are so inspiring!
You are too awesome. I don't think I have stopped to take a detour in a long time. That seems like a good idea!!!
We just took a little detour this past weekend. It was fantastic and completely re-energized me! But not enough to scrub my floors and tackle the laundry pile yet... :)
