The one where I vent...

Yesterday afternoon I texted my husband at work -
I need to run a couple errands when you get home.
Meaning no kids. Just a half an hour to myself to go pick up a few things. A very rare occurrence around here.

Did it happen?

No.

Pat got home a little late, dinner, baths, Noah freaked at the thought of me leaving, enough said.

Today, I attempted to run the same errands, only I had Noah with me, and it was raining. We made one stop and then before I could make it to the second one, he fell asleep in the car. He gave up naps eons ago, but I guess the clouds and drizzle lulled him to sleep. So, I turned around and drove all the way back home.

This afternoon, we picked up Abby from school. Since we were already out, I thought I'd attempt to run my last errand again and drop by this dance studio in the area that I'd sent my resume to. The owner sent me an email inviting me to stop by so she could meet me in person.  Being that they teach children's dance classes, I didn't think it would be a big deal to bring the kids with me since we'd only be there a few minutes. We pull into the parking lot only to hear Abby say, "Mom, I know I said I didn't have to go, but I didn't have the feeling. Now I DO have the feeling, Mom. I really, really, really have to go to the bathroom."

WHAT???? I had just asked her this less than ten minutes ago. And now I'm about to walk into this place and introduce myself for the very first time and I'm going to have to ask, "I'm sorry. Can my daughter use your bathroom?" Never mind the fact that Noah has begun to yammer away at the top of his lungs repeating,
"I want to go home! I want to go home!"
So instead of going inside and potentially making a spectacle of myself and squashing any chance that I have of future employment, I pulled out of the parking lot and drove home...again.

When Pat gets home tonight, I am greeting him at the door with my keys in hand so I can take that thirty minutes an hour to finish my errands. And I may just have to stop by Bruster's on the way. The pumpkin ice cream is calling my name.

I hate days like that! My 3 yr. old does the tantrum thing quite well. When she wants something, doesn't want to go places, ect. I need a double of myself so that I can do things by myself!

Vent away, girl! I hate days like those...when all you want is quiet, a few moments to catch your breath :)

Glad you met him at the door with keys in hand--I've found that's practically the only method that works around here, lol!
