The butterfly garden at our nearby botanical gardens is officially CLOSED from now until spring. Total bummer. Since moving here this past June, the kids and I went to the gardens almost every week and always paid the butterflies a lengthy visit.
Even on those days when I was missing my family so much that it hurt, seeing those vibrant butterflies flitting around and the smiles on my kiddos' faces, especially if one landed on them, somehow made me feel at home.
Now that fall is in full swing, the Scarecrow Trail has become the garden's main attraction, but somehow...
...it's just not quite the same.

That would be a fun place to go! And you are right, the scarecrow definitely doesn't have quite the same charm :)
Stopping by from Photo Sharing Friday.
That is sad! But those are some great shots you got of the butterflies!
I'm sorry that you are missing your family, but I am really glad that you have found a little place in the world that makes you happy.
I have to ask, is the scarecrow garden fun, or is it just creepy? I couldn't quite decide by the face your daughter is pulling.
Hope you're having a great day!
If you'd like to stop by my blog I'm at Cake Crumbs.
Oh wow. that is pretty. we don't have anything like that around here. You are completely lucky. I hope you have fun in the Fall too!
Ok, I thought I was imagining things. I said to myself, "That's not a scarecrow, it's a chicken." Then when I clicked on the picture to view larger, I saw I was only half right. It's a scare-chicken!!
Hope fall turns out to be beautiful for you, as well.

i agree...it's hard to see the butterflies go. the pics of your kiddos are great! what a fun time!
Oh, I wish there was something like that around here...my girls (and really, Isaac would like it too, just not as openly) would LOVE it!!!
Oh, AND. LOVE the colors in your shots...so vibrant and happy.
Butterfly gardens are so beautiful. I can see why you're so sad to see it go.
We live so close to the Botanical Gardens here and have never been. You've inspired me...we'll have to check it ours out!
being away from home is hard, but it's good you've found some fun things around and a way to make memories with your kids. That is a strange looking scarecrow. Is it a chicken? If you want to wander down my road I’m home.
Yes, it is indeed a chicken. When the kids first saw the crazy looking thing, they freaked out! Then a little while later, Abby declared that she wasn't afraid anymore so I took her picture next to it just to be funny. Noah, however, wouldn't go near it.
What a fun place to go! Something to look forward to next Spring!
There is always next spring to look forward to. I would love to have a butterfly garden near me...I have been in the one at Epcot in Florida, though. That was amazing! All will be well...
yeah just not quite the same appeal with a non-active display!
